rumrolls! The new Meetup experience is now live on Airmeet.
The new Meetup format has an exciting set of features and UI changes to improve the event experience for both the organizers and attendees. Get ready to improve your hosting experience, branding, and event engagement.
Before we dive into the update, please note that this updated format is not optional and will be the default setup for all meetups after the launch. Once rolled out, it will not be possible for organizers to switch back to the previous format.
Here’s everything you need to know about this new format:
A smoother UI for an interactive event
The new Meetup format aims to make it easier for the attendees to navigate and find information within the event with ease. Some of the notable changes are:
- The side navigation panel moves to the top making it easy to explore event options. Find people, alerts, and messages in the top navigation bar now.
- A secondary navigation panel now hosts Chat, Q&A, and Messages.
- Interacting with attendees has gotten pretty straightforward. The messaging option is now a part of the attendee card. Hover over, tap, and send your message.
- We have made the ‘View schedule’ option prominent by placing it on the top navigation bar. Attendees can now view the schedule from anywhere within the event.
The mobile web UI experience is also getting a makeover. A cleaner, easy-to-navigate mobile browser UI that will make for an enjoyable event experience.

New features to dial-up engagement and attendee experience
The newly introduced features are here to help you run a highly engaging event. If you are planning an upcoming event, the following are the features you shouldn’t miss out on.
Display Banner for brand visibility: Capture audience attention with a prominently displayed banner in the lounge. This branding is currently available only under the paid plan.
EM access to preview mode for all events: Prepare for a hassle-free event day through better collaboration with your team.
Announcements and pinned messages to elevate engagement: Communicate and engage with the attendees via announcements and pinned messages. Highlight the message that you want your attendees to pay attention to.
Advanced polls to gather audience opinions: Go beyond yes or no questions. Set up detailed polls to capture attendee opinion and feedback. The current Y/N poll option under the Meetup format will not be available post the new format launch.
Excited about the feature updates coming your way? The Meetup experience is going to get only better from here. We’ve got more feature additions coming your way after the new format rollout. Watch the Airmeet space for more details.
Does this mean I will be able to engage fully using my iPadPro now?
Hello, the new format will be responsive on web browsers in mobile and tablets. You can engage during the event through Chat, Polls and Q&A. The speed networking and lounge are not a part of this rollout. However, we have it on our product roadmap and hope to bring the networking experience to iPads soon.
Thank you for responding … for me and I’m sure a lot of others, it cannot come quickly enough as I belong to a particular network and feel left out of a lot of the fun taking place in the lounge and speed networking moments. I do appreciate you getting back to me as I think your platform is awesome … I described it using the name of another platform but on ‘speed’ … not sure how you feel about that description but to me it holds a lot of water 🙂 <3 x
Haha – the team and I love that description!
This is great!

That’s wonderful to hear! Good luck for your upcoming events!
Will current meetups be automatically upgraded or do we have to create new meetups?
Hi Kevin, the upgrade process is automatic and applies to existing scheduled meetups also. Any event after the launch will by default follow the new format. 🙂
Will expanded table sizes be available?
Hi Darren, The expandable table option of up to 8 seats is available as a part of the current format as well. Adding the capability to increase this beyond 8 is in our pipeline 🙂
I am absolutely thrilled to know you guys are constantly making this already powerful platform even better. Thank you guys!!
Thank you – we are an enthusiastic bunch!
Hello Airmeeters!… (If you start using that name, please give me credit… LOL… 😀 )
I made a suggestion a few months ago about adding digital business cards for all attendees so that contact information can easily be shared (one click).
Does this update include that feature?
hello! haha – well we do use that name sometimes! Regarding your suggestion, it is on our roadmap, but we can’t commit to a timeline just yet! But as soon as possible is always the plan 🙂
Bye bye Hopin!
Hello Eric! 🙂
